CYCLE clips, helmets & sandwiches packed and checked, we headed South to Falmouth to film with ICE Trikes, a company that designs, builds and constructs recumbent trikes.
Chris Parker, co-founder of ICE (which stands for Inspired Cycle Engineering), gave us a brilliant interview in the morning (before dashing off to have root canal surgery) while the rest of the day was spent filming the fantastic and uber-friendly team at work and at play.
After filming in their studio, office and workshop it was time to put the cameras down and try out some of the recumbent trikes for ourselves. ICE Trikes offer a three model line up; the Adventure is ideal for exploring trails, the Sprint is best for touring while the Vortex is the ultimate high performance long distance recumbent trike. They also had some recumbent bikes on site – which require a whole different skill set to ride – a set that Robbie didn’t quite manage to get to grips with as he came crashing off within a few seconds of trying! The bike was fine, unlike Robbie who couldn’t sit down without wincing for about a week after…
